Taylor Street Archives Profile/Application

“If we do not act now to preserve the names of those emigrants and
their offspring that lived this phenomenon called “Taylor Street’s
Little Italy,” their memories will be lost in the oblivion of time.”
The Taylor Street Archives, our historic scrapbook, has been created to
preserve the names of our immigrant parents, their offspring
(typically first and second generation Italian-Americans). Those
stories depicting growing up in Chicago’s legendary Taylor Street
neighborhood will also be included in the Archives. Each family
member is encouraged to complete their own one page profile. The
Scrapbook, with names and stories, is available via the Taylor Street
Archives web site--hard copies will also be available.

A word of advice: Get one of your children (or grandchildren) to assist
you in completing the profile. They typically can do a better job than
we can. Survivors of those who are deceased will take on the
responsibility of completing and submitting the Profile of deceased
former residents.
“If our generation doesn’t act now and act boldly to preserve and
remember and disseminate the Italian American past, it will die.”
Dominick Candeloro, noted author and historian.
