There are several lists being floated to gather the names of
those individuals who resided in the various segments of
Taylor Street’s Little Italy and/or utilized the institutions in
the neighborhood.* That list, at this time, consists of the
following geographic areas:
1. Taylor and Morgan neighborhood: Morgan Fads
SAC, Ragucci's shop, Riviera Ice Cream Parlor, etc.
2. Taylor-Halsted neighborhood: Broadway Restaurant,
Harry’s Tavern, Al’s Pizzeria.
3. Goodrich School: Peoria/Newberry/Sangamon
streets: Cecilia S.A.C., Taylor & Peoria pool room, Cinder
Stadium ball players, etc.
4. Hull House: Wolverines, Debs, etc. Comprises the
entire Taylor Street complex as well as those who resided
outside the boundaries of Taylor Street’s Little Italy.
5. Bowen Country Club: Comprises the entire Taylor
Street complex as well as those who resided outside the
boundaries of Taylor Street’s Little Italy.
6. Sheridan Park: Served most of the Taylor Street area.
7. West of Racine to Ashland
8. West of Ashland to Western
*There will be an opportunity to add the spouses and family
members of these individuals once the original list is
compiled.
-Legal Name: The correct first and last names used on legal
documents, such as school.
-Neighborhood Name: Usually will include the nick name
they were known by.
-Neighborhood/Group: List one or more of the six (8)
categories above.
-Deceased: Include date, if known. If not known put the
letter “D.”
